About two days ago a well known East London family where the sad victims of a motor vehicle accident! Her husband was taking her two sons age 13 and 15 to school when they where hit by one of our notorious taxi's. Unbeknown to my sister she and my niece actually passed the scene and thought that all must have lost their lives.
However we have since learned yesterday that it is Melonie's Family. Melonie is one of East London most well known philanthropists and has a non profit organisation called Living Waters. She has brought out a gospel CD and done much good for a lot of local people. She started many years ago a soup kitchen where she used to go out and preach and feed the poor in the street.
She runs a christian book shop and has a few I think by now shelters for abused women. She is also or used to be affiliated with our Christian Radio Station called Link FM which we get locally. The group is looking at also restarting the Pregnancy Crisis Centre for single or moms in need.
In today's local newspaper the Daily Dispatch it claims that the husband and oldest son are in a stable condition but the youngest is still in a coma and is critical.
The information that we know have is rather grave indeed and it would appear that the youngest son might be taken off life support tomorrow. How does God allow someone who does so much good for others go through something like this - We know its not our plan but his. However does that help in making decisions about your child's life. Somehow I know that Melonie with God's help will overcome this but maybe if we all prayed for Courtenay her son and for 15 year old Keegan so that the bleeding on the brain can stop and he can at least be operated on - God might just provide us with a miracle!
We know now matter how hard that at the end of the day our children are only loaned to us and God's hand will be upon all of this!
So to Melonie, her husband Jamie and both her sons our prays are with you.
We have very good news both boys will be hopefully going home this week end and even though not fully recovered they are both well on their way to recovery! THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO PRAYED FOR THEM IN THEIR TIME OF NEED - GOD DOES ANSWER PRAY!

God is the one to be glorified here. It is sad that one of the children may lose his life but we must look at the situation from another angle. It is not the good family that God is allowing this to happen to, it is the minibus driver who was totally disobedient to the laws provided that has resulted in an innocent family's loss.
You wrote a hub recently, Does Everything Happen for a Reason? God is the only person who knows that reason. There was a reason and a purpose for that accident. God can take a tragedy to us and turn it into a glorious miracle that won't just involve those immediately affected but the whole country too.
Here you have made a request for prayer for the younger son. You are involving more people to share the burden of prayer with the family. The family know they are not alone in their quest. You are also trying to get a nation who have forgotten how to pray involved in prayer. Either way God will be glorified.
God has already worked a miracle in this scenario. The miracle He worked is in you and your reaction.
Your mother and father's survival, your sister's miraculous healing of a brain tumour (even though surgically removed God works through the hands of the surgeons) and Dennis's testimony have had a remarkable affect on your life. A good affect I must add. It is showing "you standing out of the crowd" as Daniel would have put it in the Old Testament.
We will all pray for this young boy. But you must come to terms with God's plan for him and not interfere with the process He puts into place.
Children are on loan to us. We rear them and nurture them. We get to love them but later on in life they too turn into adults. They are no longer children. This young boy has brought much joy to his parents. They will have their period to mourn should he be taken from them. They will still have fond memories of him. They'll be able to smile and laugh again one day.
There is no test here. One family obeyed another didn't. And in among all this confusion God has a plan.
Pray for him and bear him up. And let God be glorified in it all.

You know, I don't know if I buy the whole plan thing. I think God made us so God could be surprised.
I will send a prayer as well.
